House E
House E is a compact kitchen renovation centred around one clear goal: making better use of the available space. The existing kitchen layout was inefficient and outdated, with worn cabinetry and limited workspace. The client approached us with a desire for a more functional, light-filled space — one that felt contemporary yet connected to the rest of the home. The design response focused on maximising efficiency while retaining a sense of openness. A new kitchen island anchors the layout, providing additional preparation surface and informal seating. Integrated into the reconfiguration are a broom cupboard, a dedicated coffee nook, and a built-in dining bench — all designed to extend counter space without overwhelming the room's scale. Material choices were kept clean and neutral. White cabinetry and a crisp tiled splashback are offset by sleek black handles and fixtures, adding visual contrast without heaviness. To soften the palette, timber countertops were introduced, bringing warmth and texture into the space and balancing the black-and-white scheme. Natural light, a priority for the client, continues to flood the space through its original openings, with the updated layout allowing for better circulation and clearer sightlines. The result is a compact but highly efficient kitchen — one that supports the rhythm of family life and elevates the everyday through simple, thoughtful interventions.
